In a worrying time for students, these workshops will reassure that learning can still be fun. It will also give young people the opportunity to engage with our employees and enable them to apply classroom skills in real-life scenarios”

Apps for Good’s partners make the work we do possible.

Providing volunteers, giving expertise, co-creating and designing engagement programmes for young people are all parts of the Apps for Good partnership experience.

2020 was a challenge. Schools closed across the country, students were home-schooled, and social distancing meant that face to face interaction was impossible. Because of this, it is more important than ever to work with businesses to come up with creative solutions to these issues.

This is why we are particularly excited to announce that for 2021 we will be starting a new partnership with Deutsche Bank. Through its CSR Born to Be youth engagement strategy, Deutsche Bank will help us engage state secondary school pupils across the country in vital digital skills and careers education, reaching the young people who need it the most.

With the help of Deutsche Bank employees, we will be utilising technology to facilitate courses that empower students to become the change-makers in their communities. They will come up with creative solutions to problems that affect their day to day lives, with the bank’s employees giving feedback and sharing insights from their roles with the students. Video conferencing software and online learning platforms mean we will be able to reach students in a flexible, impactful way and ensure they gain all the skills and life experience they would have from a face to face workshop.

I am absolutely delighted to have Deutsche Bank as an Apps for Good partner in 2021. We look forward to working with them to bridge the digital skills gap for young people throughout the UK”

Heather Picov, CEO, Apps for Good

This partnership will be particularly focused on encouraging students to think and design innovative tech solutions to problems that have arisen in their lives as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mental health, home-learning resources and food poverty will all be issues that students will have the chance to use their imagination to solve. 2020 was a year like no other, and we are thrilled Deutsche Bank can help us give an opportunity to young people to think critically and creatively in 2021.

We could not be more excited at starting the delivery of workshops from early 2021, Apps for Good CEO Heather Picov said “I am absolutely delighted to have Deutsche Bank as an Apps for Good partner in 2021. We look forward to working with them to bridge the digital skills gap for young people throughout the UK”.

Lareena Hilton, Deutsche Bank’s Global Head of Brand Communications & CSR, shared “We are so proud to be partnering with Apps for Good. In a worrying time for students, these workshops will reassure that learning can still be fun. It will also give young people the opportunity to engage with our employees and enable them to apply classroom skills in real-life scenarios – an important step towards fulfilling their own potential.”

Having partners like Deutsche Bank supporting our journey in 2021 gives us the confidence we can look forward to continuing achieving great things!
