Introducing Georgie, our new Fundraising and Partnerships Manager.

What’s your role at Apps for Good?

I have just taken on the role of Fundraising and Partnerships Manager, where I will be working with our Head of Fundraising and Partnerships, Matt. I am here to help look after our current partners, and ensure everyone is getting the best experience from our time working together. As well as this I am also looking to develop new partnerships with corporates as well as trusts and foundations.

My main aim is to keep connecting great companies with fantastic schools across the country, and in so doing increase the impact Apps For Good can have for young people!

What were you doing before you joined us?

I have always worked in education and charity, and my roles have always been those with a focus on improving the lives of children and young people. I most recently spent three years working for a Children’s Hospice in the South of England, leading on mass participation events and corporate fundraising. Prior to this I worked in the education and training industry for seven years, with a focus on young people’s mental health and improving outcomes for those in challenging circumstances.

So, whether in a school setting or within fundraising, children and young people have always been at the heart of my career, and that shared passion is the reason I wanted to join the team here at Apps for Good.

What motivates you about Apps for Good’s mission?

I believe that all young people deserve access to a diverse and valuable education, and that there is a real need to inspire and educate them for the jobs of the future. I think that’s exactly what Apps for Good offers.

I particularly like the focus we have around opening up the tech industry to more girls, and ensuring young people from disadvantaged backgrounds are given the same opportunities to thrive and learn from industry professionals.

I think the computing courses go far beyond technical skills and understanding and offer the chance for increased confidence, self esteem and teamwork, all skills vital in the world beyond education.

What are you looking forward to in your new role?

I am a real people person and look forward to meeting lots of new people, and building partnerships that are rewarding for everyone involved. I am also really looking forward to the Showcase, and the opportunity to see some of the innovative ideas the students come up with!
